White Collar "By the Book" Nitpicks

Season 2, Episode 4 Air Date: August 3, 2010

When you watch a program over and over, you start to notice minor continuity issues, plot oversights and other goofs. This page is not intended to be a criticism aimed toward the show or anyone who works on White Collar. They produce a great show and should be proud of their work. That's why I titled it "Nitpicks" because to nitpick means "to be overly critical or criticize minor details." If it bothers you, please don't read them. This page is intended to be for people who love watching something and going "I never noticed that..."

Guessing Games: Why doesn't Gina write "I need help" on the bill instead of the name of the book? Wouldn't that make it a little clearer she was in trouble?

Going down? In the elevator, Mozzie is seen pressing at least 5 buttons. But the elevator is seen only making four stops before Neal sends it back up. Which is another issue. Have you ever been in an elevator going down that switches directions in mid-course when there are people still waiting to go down?

Which floor, please? Mozzie sends Neal a text, "20th floor" and gets on at the 20th floor. Later, when Diana summarizes the events in the elevator, she says "this little guy gets on at 19th" floor.

Faulty Memory: Why did Mozzie keep a file on Gina? He has perfect recall. Why would he need to record things that way?

Need a Clock: Neal breaks it to Sal's because it is closed. However, the door clearly says that it opens at 12 noon every day. And if you think it may not be noon yet, remember that Peter met Elizabeth for lunch and when Mozzie got onto the elevator, the time stamp read 11:54.

Shh! In Sal's, why doesn't Neal turn off his phone after it rings the first time? And how can he have it so his phone doesn't ring when people call but it rings when he gets text messages?

Give me a Ring(tone): And while we're talking about rings, Neal doesn't have a better ring than that? Somehow, I expected something other than a traditional buzzing sound...

Good Guess! When Mozzie gives the code, he tells them pages and lines. When Neal looks it up, the first word is at the end of the line but the second is in the middle of the line. Neal probably guessed what he was referring to, but how did Peter know what they were talking about? When he arrives he asks Neal what the "Perfect Exchange" meant.
